Experience the Magic of Oil Painting

Karl Jacobson

Tre Kronor Studio:  Karl Jacobson is a professional painter and artist based in Clarion, bringing over 25 years of experience to his craft. A graduate of Clarion University with a master’s degree from Penn State, he has shared his passion for painting as an instructor at PennWest Clarion. Now, he offers oil painting classes for locals eager to take the next step on their creative journey. With a touch of whimsy and nostalgia, Karl’s work breathes life into the landscapes and cityscapes of Clarion, blending moody atmospheres with a sense of wonder. His recent pieces reflect the heart of his hometown, where light dances through familiar streets, and memories seem to linger in the brushstrokes. Whether capturing the working class of rural Pennsylvania or the magic of a place held dear, Karl’s art invites viewers to step into a world both real and dreamlike.

Jason Floyd Lewis

Jason was born in Clarion PA and graduated from Clarion Area High School where he was introduced to drawing and inspired to pursue art by his teacher. He attended the Columbus College of Art and Design and earned a BFA in Fine Art. He went on to attain an MFA in Drawing at Bowling Green State University. Jason eventually settled on landscapes as his primary subject matter because of his love for the natural beauty in the area where he grew up. He works in both graphite and oils.  Jason is the curator and director for the Red Brick Gallery in Foxburg, where he also exhibits artwork. Other local venues that have exhibited his work include the Gallery in the New Bethlehem Town Center, the Clarion River Art Gallery, numerous shows put on by Clarion and Forest County Arts Council and at the arts festival in Saxonburg. Jason exhibits work regularly at galleries in Columbus, OH and in Erie. Special commissions include a mural in the Scenic Rivers YMCA in Clarion and a large painting installed in the courtroom of the Clarion County Courthouse.

Emma Zacherl

Up until recently, I have spent most of my time creating watercolor paintings. Last year I began learning about water-mixable oils, and now they are my favorite medium. I paint a large variety of subjects, from animals to landscapes or pop culture. However, as I am very interested in the past, I find myself drawn toward subjects with historical context. I have done multiple paintings that have been published in local history books related to the iron furnaces of central Pennsylvania, and I have recently been spending time painting portraits of historical reenactors.
